I am often asked how I 'changed' myself into how positive I now am and I smile as I have always been positive. It comes from an extremely negative childhood.. I honestly strive each and every day to be positive, I made a choice in my teen's to follow the 3rd element of Buddhism which is Karma Yoga.. and since then I will even force myself to be and see positiveness in all things ... if I can and sometimes I do not get there but I always try.
That doesn't mean that I was being nice or positive to myself and for many years I made excuses to remain in my currently health decline while remaining 'positive' in my life. To be honest in this time I was actually being as negative as I could be to my health and in retrospect my whole being.
So yes I have made great change... back to a life that I remember when I use to compete in my teens but with a great group of people and a positive nature to always strive for more, strive to change, reach higher, harder, faster and support those around me. The people around me are very important and to support them really does strengthen my own goals ... it is circular - an on-going movement of constant support.
I did choose to change my lifestyle and look at things differently, I looked at what was negative in my life, my food, attitude's, people and what I can do to promote positive change.
I love absolutely LOVE having people talk to me about their changes, their goals and their dreams. I honestly love assisting people get their.. and even just to witness this happening is AWESOME!!
I have lately had a few people say to me that they can not change.. it is just too hard .. this is how they are and it wont change!!! This is honestly just an excuse, you are CHOOSING to stay there and you know what that is OK if you OWN IT.. OWN YOUR CHOICE and it's impacts!
I had a good friend of mine say.. At this stage I can not give up bread, so I will reduce the amount and purchase organic, the best that I can find. I loved the ownership and maturity behind that conversation, even though it was not what I would do I loved how authentic she was with self and our conversation.
I have also seen a man today bring in a food diary and give it to his Coach knowing it was about to be critiqued and even though there were things in there that were not ideal. This man is seeking change, he is looking for 'other' things to fill his plate and he was OPEN to CHANGE and open to receive advice. Again another brilliant moment to witness - thankyou:) xx
At The Box where I train I see people try to go harder, squat deeper, do more and strive for change. Being a witness to this is always amazing - I love it!! Self improvement - to better yourself, really is it you against YOU. Crossfit is about Constantly Varied - yet another word for Change and it changes each and every day.
It doesn't matter if it is food, training, attitude, family, people around you or whatever it may be. Do not belittle yourself by making an excuse that you can not change. It is a choice, YOU are making a choice and sometimes that choice will have a cascading effect onto others.
So when I hear this excuse I have decided to be honest.. and say BULLSHIT, of course you can if you CHOOSE
change or if you can not then just OWN the decision to remain the same. In doing this you are then owning the impact that your choice is having on you and maybe even those around you by your decisions.
Change is the only constant in life. . . EMBRACE it or remain the same in the end it is that simple. With understanding that it is your choice, Discipline to stay the course, Ownership of self and everything you put out into the world, belief in what you are doing and the right knowledge we can choose to become the best we can be.
How do you choose to BE??
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
